The working principle of spark plugs

High-voltage power introduction: The ignition coil boosts the 12V voltage to over 10,000 volts, which is then transmitted via high-tension wires to the spark plugs.
Ionization discharge: High voltage causes the air between the central electrode and the side electrode to ionize, generating charged ions and free electrons.
Sparking occurs: When the voltage reaches a critical level, the air loses its insulating properties, creating a discharge channel that generates sparks with temperatures as high as 2000–3000°C, igniting the air-fuel mixture.
